Our History
From a tiny grassroots organisation in the US in 2005, to winning animal welfare commitments from the UK’s biggest companies, The Humane League UK has changed a lot over the years.
Read MoreWe know it's a big mission. 130 billion animals are suffering right now on factory farms across the world. But we also know we can achieve huge change. We already have.
So we fight. We fight for a different future for animals. We fight with compassion, with relentless strength. We fight with everything we have. Because our broken food system simply cannot continue.
Too many animals are suffering. Animal agriculture is destroying the world we live in, polluting our rivers and decimating our environments. The world’s most vulnerable people are bearing the brunt of the consequences.
So it’s time to rise up. To disrupt and create change. To BE the change. To take a stand for those who can’t.
Our vision is that by 2050, we've stopped the worst and most widespread abuse of animals raised for food, and they’re treated with far greater compassion.
Changing the world for animals is a huge task, and we can’t do it all, right away. We need to prioritise where we can have the biggest impact on the most animals. Our pragmatic approach is rooted in sound research and science and we’ve used this approach to plan our priorities until 2027. This approach is what makes us so effective we’ve won awards for it.
