At The Humane League UK, we have a network of volunteers around the UK that give up their time to help animals. And they really are the lifeblood of the animal welfare movement.

We are a relatively small team here in the UK, and each of our volunteers gives an extra set of hands to push us closer to our mission every single day. These relentless and passionate individuals offer their time, expertise and knowledge to support our cause and, with their support, our mission to end the abuse of all animals raised for food becomes so much more achievable.

It also gives us the amazing opportunity to work with, and learn from, some incredible animal activists across the country, all of whom share our vision of a world free from animal suffering.

  • Changing the way corporations treat animals has to be a people-powered movement, and that's why our volunteers are key to successfully driving change. They are the consumers who stop and say enough is enough; I want to be a part of ending this cruelty. They join forces with each other, and with us, and it's that team-work which allows us to make changes that revolutionise the state of the animal agriculture industry

Our volunteers help in so many different ways at The Humane League UK.

They plan and deliver local events, reaching new people with our message and gaining crucial support for our campaigns. They organise Action Parties across the country, bringing together local activists to take action in our campaigns. These events are crucial in amplifying our voice and putting pressure on companies. In fact, we’ve even won campaigns just day after these take place!

Without our dedicated volunteers organising and leading these events, they simply couldn’t happen, and we would miss out on the essential support that is instrumental in winning our campaigns and driving positive progress for animals.

Our volunteers also take part in campaigns themselves, tirelessly contacting companies, restaurants, and other food giants and urging them to commit to better welfare in their supply chains.

They are the individuals organising the protests and standing outside in the cold giving out leaflets, taking the fight to the doorstep of our targets and showing them that we won’t take no for an answer. They are the letter writers, the tweeters, the Facebook commenters, the photographers. They are making a real difference each day.

Volunteers are not just a benefit to The Humane League UK, they are integral. They are a valued sounding board. Their trusted opinions provide us the necessary feedback we need to keep growing and adapting, to keep being as effective as we can be and to help as many animals as we possibly can. They drive our campaigns, providing us with endless ideas and visions for our next set of actions, and create content for our website.

We know how valuable our volunteers are, and that's why we look after them with training, flexibility and 1:1 contact. We can help develop the skills they have, and teach them new ones.

  • Volunteers are central to the successes we have been able to achieve for farmed animals. Our volunteers are given a lot of trust and they know that they can make a real direct impact with the time that they give.
