Campaign to change the world for chickens sees major boost as a major meat company signs the Better Chicken Commitment.

Jan Zandbergen Group is one of the largest importers of animal products into the EU. Today, it has pledged to meet company demand and supply chicken that complies with the higher welfare Better Chicken Commitment criteria, facilitating much-needed change in the industry.
We’ve been in touch with Jan Zanbergen Group decision-makers after they came to us for information about the Better Chicken Commitment (BCC), the initiative devised by leading animal protection groups to safeguard the welfare of chickens.
As a key player in the food industry, its capacity for influencing change is immense. And, not only have they pledged to meet demand for higher welfare chicken, they’re also dedicated to advocating for the BCC among their clients and the wider food industry. This has the potential to create ongoing, long-term change for chickens.
We can’t congratulate Jan Zandbergen Group enough for making this pledge to supply chicken that meets the BCC criteria. Not only that, but it has shown real initiative in promoting the BCC among its partners, and pushing animal welfare up the corporate agenda.
"There is an ever-growing movement of companies committing to higher welfare systems, and this pledge will not only allow these companies to fulfil their commitments but also encourage many more to do the same. This kind of leadership and cross-industry support is vital to forging a better future for chickens."
