Some of our incredible supporters are moving for the animals! During the last week of October, animal lovers like you are taking part in a variety of physical challenges to raise vital funds towards ending the abuse of animals raised for food. But what motivates someone to fundraise? I caught up with a few of our fundraising champions to find out.

Anthony, The Humane League UK volunteer, London

I’m running 130km for the 130 billion animals suffering on factory farms every day.

It’s a huge number, which is why it’s such an important cause to raise money for. I know the funds will be used wisely in improving animal welfare and reducing the suffering that so many of our animal friends are enduring.

It’s an honour to participate in raising money for The Humane League UK, and supporting others to do the same. Plus, amidst the current lockdown situation I know it will also help my health and wellbeing.

Abby, The Humane League UK Regional Rep, London

Eating meat is natural for so many people but the methods by which it is obtained are anything but. That’s why this fundraiser is so important to me.

I’ve been a Regional Rep since February this year. Before I moved to London I lived in Brighton and ran stalls at vegan events for The Humane League UK.

I am very passionate about raising awareness of what happens on factory farms so that people think about where meat is actually coming from. Donating to this fundraiser will greatly help The Humane League UK to expand their campaigns, reach more people, raise awareness, and ultimately save animals.

Melda, Regional Rep, Newcastle

I’m fundraising for my favourite charity, The Humane League UK, because they work relentlessly to reduce animal suffering and cruelty around the world.

I am from Turkey, but moved to the UK to study in Durham. I’m just about to start my Masters at Newcastle University. I’ve recently become a Regional Rep for The Humane League UK and before that I volunteered with them for two years. I helped establish a community in Durham to support and spread the message around animal welfare through events and meetups.

I am absolutely thrilled to challenge myself to run long distances and help raise money for an awesome cause for the animals!

Max, The Humane League UK volunteer, London

I decided to run 1 mile for every £10 someone donates to try and motivate people to give as much as they can.

It means so much to me because I've seen first hand the amazing work The Humane League UK does for the animals. They're an incredibly effective charity who achieve amazing things!

I’ve been with The Humane League UK from day one, attending the first ever Animal Action meeting back in 2017. I love attending events and protests in my spare time to meet people interested in animal welfare and do what I can to help animals suffering.

Megan, Regional Rep, Solihull

I am completing an intense full day hike in memory of the ex battery hens my family adopted in 2015.

I want this fundraiser to be successful as there are so many animals suffering in factory farms right now but every animal deserves to walk free in the sunshine, just like my hens.

Ed, The Humane League UK volunteer, London

I’ll be cycling for 12-24 hours, depending on the level of support I receive. My cycling challenge will be quite a slog but it will certainly be worth it. Many people aren't aware of the immense suffering that animals on modern factory farms experience every single day.

I know that The Humane League UK will use the money I raise effectively to raise much needed awareness, and to drive meaningful change for billions of animals.
