Please don’t give me anymore ‘stuff’ for my birthday

Birthdays: From now on, I'm asking for donations to my favourite charity instead.

I don’t know about you, but I have WAY too much stuff, and I don’t know what to do with it all.

The last few years have seen boxes and bags go to charity shops or getting flogged on auction websites in an effort to adopt a more minimalist lifestyle. Each time my birthday (or Christmas!) rolls around I say to my loved ones “Please don’t buy me any more stuff!” But that request only works a fraction of the time because it’s not offering my loved ones an alternative when they really want to give a gift to show they care.

Enter: Birthday charity fundraisers!

From now on I’m going to say “Please don’t buy me any more stuff, I’d really appreciate if you could make a donation to my favourite charity instead.”

Facebook makes setting up a birthday fundraiser so easy. In just a few clicks your page is set up and shared with friends and family. There are no hidden charges, so 100% of the money you raise goes directly to The Humane League UK. Check out our easy-to-use Facebook Fundraiser instructions!

I created a birthday fundraiser for The Humane League UK because I have seen firsthand how the charity improves the lives of so many animals in need.

    -Marina, volunteer

Birthday fundraisers make the world of difference for animals. Each donation—no matter the amount—brings us one step closer to our goal of ending the abuse of animals raised for food.

If you’re not on Facebook, you can still fundraise using other platforms. We recommend Just Giving because it also makes the whole process nice and easy!
