Morrisons sells itself as a sunny and wholesome brand - this video exposes the truth.

According to its adverts, “Morrisons makes good things happen”. But there is nothing ‘good’ about how the chickens in Morrisons’ supply chain are treated.

Leading animal charities The Humane League UK, Open Cages, and Animal Equality satirise Morrisons in a new video which shines a spotlight on misleading advertising.

The video spoofs Morrisons by mimicking its cheerful marketing style, showing happy Morrisons employees, farmers and animals and picturesque rural scenes which are contrasted with real footage from undercover investigations into farms supplying Morrisons chicken.

Open Cages investigations into four Cranswick chicken farms in East Anglia, carried out in May-June 2021, revealed terrible conditions.

Chickens could barely walk and some were immobile, lying in their own waste.

Many birds carried painful sores and injuries, and corpses were left to rot in the barn. But this is not an isolated incident. This kind of suffering is inherent in the system itself.

We’re demanding Morrisons stops selling fast-growing chickens because these breeds suffer unthinkably. They are at higher risk of problems like heart attacks, lameness, and white striping disease.

Morrisons must improve their chicken welfare by signing onto the Better Chicken Commitment and stop exploiting painful fast-growing breeds immediately.

Don’t be fooled: Morrisons is making cruel things happen.
